Obituary for Wendy Susan Wood

Wendy Susan Wood, a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister and podiatrist departed this world on May 2nd, 2021. Wendy was born to Arthur and Barbara Wood (nee Musselman) on June 19th, 1961, where she was raised in a family of four in Lafayette Hill, PA.

Wendy was an outstanding student and had high aspirations of helping others in the medical field. She was an honors graduate from Delaware Valley College and later went on to earn a post-graduate degree from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine. She completed a two-year residency at the Giuffre Medical Center and Girard Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA.

In 1990, Wendy reopened Arch Road Family Podiatry in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, where she treated patients for 31 years.

Along the way, at age 17, Wendy would discover her life-long passion for travel. It began when she participated in the Youth for Understanding study-abroad program during her Senior year at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. She chose to visit a rural farm in Denmark, and quickly became fluent in Danish. Her enduring relationship with her friends and host family there lasted a lifetime.

In 1991, at the recommendation of her late friend Francine, Wendy would meet the love of her life on a blind date, Mark Alan Bennett. After getting married in 1992, Wendy was rejoiced with the birth of her two sons: Bryan in 1993 and Jeffrey in 1995. As a foursome, they began globetrotting to better understand the world around them. During her travels and detailed trip planning, Wendy would go on to visit all seven continents and experience numerous cultures. She would share her travel stories with others through her scrapbooking, which became a favored hobby of hers.

Wendy was known by all for her compassion and kindness; two virtues which shone through in all aspects of her life. Her empathy was palpable to her patients and family alike. Whether you wanted to be supported and loved or just beaten at Scrabble; Wendy was there.

Wendy Susan Wood is survived by her husband, Mark, her sons, Bryan and Jeffrey, her brother, Douglas, her sisters, Sandra and Jennifer, her mother, Barbara, and beloved dog, Buster.
