Julio Cesar Acevedo, 68, of Upper Darby, PA, died Thursday, April 29, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by family. Born in Aguada, Puerto Rico, he was raised in Chicago and was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School class of '72 and attended Washburne Trade School. He spent 17 years as a valued member of the recreational therapy staff at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. A resident of Upper Darby for 28 years, Julio was a member of Old First Reformed United Church of Christ in Olde City Philadelphia. Julio was a master carpenter and woodworker, and was highly skilled in plumbing, electrical work, and as a mechanic. He enjoyed classic cars, aviation, the blues & jazz, and was a classic movie buff. Julio was a perpetual student of history, political science, and architecture. Along with his family, he traveled extensively to New England, the Carolinas, and his native home of Puerto Rico. Internationally, he especially enjoyed trips to Australia, Spain, Perú, Argentina, and Brazil. Julio will be remembered by all as an artistic storyteller and irreplaceable friend. He will be remembered by his family as a wonderful brother, dedicated father, and loving husband.

 

Survivors: Wife of 35 years, Jane (née Styer); son, Miguel Acevedo; brothers, Saul Antonio Acevedo (Alicia) and Eli Norberto Acevedo; sisters, Natividad Acevedo and Mildred Socorro Rivera (Norbert); and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & nephews.

Visitation: 4-6pm (EST) Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the Toppitzer Funeral Home. Arlington Cemetery, 2900 State Rd. Drexel Hill PA.

Service: 10:30am (EST) Monday, May 3, 2021 at the Toppitzer Funeral Home.
