Obituary for Mr. Jonathan David Duguid

Jonathan David Duguid, age 75, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Victoria Maggs Duguid, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. Born in New York City on December 12, 1945, son of the late Forbes and Dorothy Lotsch Duguid, he was a lifelong Fairfield Town resident. He graduated Roger Ludlowe High School, "Class of 1964" and went on to the the Bridgeport Engineering Institute earning a B.S. degree in Mechanical Design Engineering. Jon was the owner of Duguid Landscaping where he worked for over 40 years as a landscape contractor. He loved nothing more than being outside in nature. One of his passions was as a leader with the Boy Scouts of America. A lifelong scout, he began his adult scouting career as Cub Master for his son's pack at Jennings School. He continued on to became Scoutmaster of Troop 88 at Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church. He held many positions with the troop and council over the 35 years he was involved - an accomplishment that he was most proud of. He never tired of working with scouts to get them to the finish line to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, an inspiration to Scouts and adult Scouters as well. Jon was a true example of living by the Scout Law. He also liked building model ships and tinker toys for his grandchildren. He enjoyed summer vacations in Maine, Canada, and anywhere there was a lighthouse to photograph as he was a photography buff. More than anything, he will be lovingly remembered as a devoted family man to his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to Vicki, his loving wife of 51 years, he leaves behind his children, Jennifer Savader and her husband Jason of Fairfield, Jed Duguid and his wife Marlyse of Sandy Hook and Jill Duguid and her companion Scott Sendas of Fairfield. Jon leaves behind his grandchildren Owen, Emmett and Phinn Savader and Waylon and Nyssa Duguid, a brother Robert Duguid and his wife Cindy of North Carolina, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Forbes Duguid. At the request of the family, donations may be made to fairfieldscholarshipfoundation.org.
