Obituary for Mr. John W. Ruby Jr.

John W. Ruby, Jr., 85, entered into rest Saturday February 20, 2021 at his home. He was the husband of Theresa P. (Zorbaugh) Ruby. A viewing will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church 309 South George Street, rear entrance. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. John Kuchinski as celebrant. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. The John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., West York, is assisting with the arrangements. Mr. Ruby was born July 11, 1935 in York, a son of the later John W., Sr., and Anna P. (Jenkins) Ruby. He was a member of St. Patrick Church, where he served as an usher, a member of Pastoral Council, an Extraordinary Minister, and a Perpetual Adoration Chapel adorer. He was a graduate of William Penn Senior High School and was employed as a Supervisor at Cole Steel, Thonet Industries, and retired from York Casket Company as a Time Study Methods Engineer. He was Head Tipstaff for Judge Thomas Kelly. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Hawks Gunning Club. John is survived by his wife; sons Mike Eugene Ruby and his wife Lena Marie; step-children Robert Whitmer,III, Pamela Sue Wells, Dawn Elaine Holder, Keith Edward Whitmer and his wife Pamela, Dean Alllen Whitmer and his wife Sally Anne;a sister Beverly Martin; nieces, nephews, and loving extended family. He was preceded in death by a son Mark Allen Ruby. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
