Obituary for Grace Mickiel Shea Opiela
Grace E. Mickiel Shea Opiela, 93, of Waterbury, died peacefully on Monday March 9, 2009 at Meridian Manor in Waterbury. She was the widow of Dennis M. Shea and Frank V. Opiela. Mrs. Opiela was born in Derby on June 13, 1915. She worked for many years at Riodan's Department store in Ansonia and then for Farrel Corp. before retiring and moving to Florida where she was very active in the retirement community she lived in. She loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting and made many beautiful afghans for her great-grandchildren. She leaves a son, Richard D. Shea of Seymour and his wife Catherine; and a daughter Elizabeth Guerrera and her husband Rocco of Waterbury. She was predeceased by her daughter Judith Musto. She also leaves eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The Bennett Funeral Home Ansonia is entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery Ansonia.
