Obituary for Jr. Harry I. Bachelder

Harry I. Bachelder, Jr, 87, a longtime Ansonia resident and husband of the late Margaret Glovna Bachelder, entered into eternal rest Wednesday August 19, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. He was born July 28, 1922 in New Haven, son of the late Harry and Indiana Nourse Bachelder. He worked as a tool maker for Sikorsky Aircraft of Stratford and was a member of the Sikorsky Club and the Lodge of Elks in Derby. A Navy veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, Harry was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.) and Ansonia Post of the American Legion. He is survived by two sons, Harry I. Bachelder III of Middlebury and Thomas H. Bachelder and his wife, Maureen of Easton. He is also survived by two sisters, Doris Jandrok of Weldon, Calif. and Jeanette Sherburne of South Park, PA; sister-in-law Olive Bachelder of Oakdale; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Harry was predeceased by two brothers, Nelson and Herbert Bachelder; three sisters, Arvella Towns, Rebecca Ferguson and Laura Hobbs and his daughter-in-law, Cheryl Bachelder. The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home of Ansonia is entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery Ansonia.
