Obituary for Ruth Branch

Ruth S. Branch, age 91, of Ansonia, widow of James U. Branch, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the Hilltop Nursing Home, Ansonia.  She was born September 18, 1915 in Seymour, daughteer of the late Godfried and Emily Chadwick Stephanofsky.  She was a retired head bookkeeper for the former Ansonia Lumber Co.  She also was a bookkeeper for the Ansonia Redevelopment Agency.  She was a memer of the First Congregational Church of Ansonia, formeer Deacon Emeritus of the church, Financial Secretary, member of the Women's Fellowship and the Violet Club.  She served on the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army.  She is survived by two sisters, Olive Wolfgang and Edith Stephen, both of Seymour and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by one sister, Shirley Gunning and three brothers, Frederick, Robert and David Stephanofsky.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 am. in the First Congregational Church, 44 South Cliff Street, Ansonia.  Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the Jenkins-King Funeral Home, 12 Franklin Street, Ansonia.  Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Book of Remembrance of the First Congregational Church.
