Obituary for Harry Chirgwin

Harry J. Chirgwin, 89, husband to Olga Halchak Chirgwin and resident of Orange, died May 21, 2010 at Griffin Hospital. He was born April 1, 1921 in Ansonia, son of the late Harry T. and Mary Evans Chirgwin. He was a graduate of Ansonia High School, Class of 1938. A veteran of the U.S.Army during World War II, Harry worked as a pattern maker for the Farrel Co. of Ansonia, where he was also a member of the Farrel Old Timers Club. He was a member of the Fountain Hose Fire Co. of Ansonia. He was a member of the former George Washington Masonic Lodge in Ansonia and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ansonia, where he was also a former treasurer and served on the church council. In addition to his wife Olga, Harry leaves his daughter Lynn Hvizd and her husband Andrew of Wallingford; grandson Andrew J. Hvizd of Burlington, Ontario Canada; graddaughter Sarah Sigel of Northford and two great grandchildren. Harry was predeceased by his sister Marion Slade. Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery Ansonia.
