Lionel H. Seccombe, Jr.

SECCOMBE, Lionel H., Jr. Lionel H. Seccombe, Jr., 83, husband of 59 and a half years to Alice "Jane" Seccombe, of Canton and former Ansonia resident, died Thursday (January 4, 2007) at home.  He was born March 30, 1923 in Portland, ME., son of the late Lionel H. Seccombe, Sr., and Alta Mae Tomlinson Seccombe and adopted mother Louise Burne Seccombe.  

He was a veteran of the Navy during World War II.  He was a professional Design Engineer for several engineering companies.  He graduated from Worcester Poly Tech Institute, class of 1944.  He also later served as a tour guide for Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol, RI.  He was a member of the St. Albans Masonic Lodge #6 of Bristol, RI as well as The Sphinx Shriner's Lodge.  He was a member of The First Congregational Church in Canton and was an avid boater, and enjoyed woodworking.  

In addition to his wife, Alice he is survived by two sons, Robert F. Seccombe of Barkhamstead and Stewart A. Seccombe of Tulane, CA; two brothers, Charles "Chink" Seccombe, Donald Seccombe both of Ansonia; sister Laura Jane Lane of Ansonia, four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth S. Palmer.  

Memorial services will be held at the First Congregational Church in Canton (on Rt. 179) on Thursday, Jan. 11 at 1 p.m.  Committal services will be held on Friday, Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery Chapel, Ansonia.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to McLean Hospice of Simsbury, 75 Great Pond Rd., 06070 or to The Stony Creek Fife & Drum Corp., building fund, P.O.
