Obituary for Roy Peter Sr. Ranno
Roy Peter Ranno, Sr., 77, of Derby, entered into death on Monday February 18, 2007 at Connecticut Hospice. He was the devoted husband of Dale Jennings Ranno. Mr. Ranno was born in Derby on September 30, 1930, son of the late Anthony and Florence Martino Ranno. He retired from Sikorsky where he was employed in the Maintenance Department, but had worked at the B.F.Goodrich Company in 1975 when it exploded. He was one of the employees who were kidnapped at that time. He had been a valley resident all of his life and enjoyed playing sports for the Derby teams. He was a membere of the Derby Elks Club. He was the beloved father of Gary Ranno and his wife Kittie of Chesapeak, VA, Roy Ranno Jr., of Philips Ranch, Calif. and Sharon Bardson and her husband, Glenn of Colorado Spring, Colo.; his eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren will also miss him. He is survived by his brother Anthony Ranno and his wife Madlyn of Fort Myers, Fla. as well as several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. He as predeceased by a daughter Laura Jane Ranno. HIs funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday in St. Mary's Church.
