Obituary for Sr. Peter Paul Pawchyk

Peter Paul Pawchyk, Sr., 94, a resident of Masonic Healthcare, Wallingford, peacefully passed Tuesday March 18, 2008. Peter was born March 7, 1914 in Ansonia and was the son of Theodsia Bodak and Pawel Pawchyk. He retired after 37 years as a lead machinist at Sikorsky Aircraft. Along with his wife Katherine, they built a home and raised a family in Orange. He was a communicant of Three Saints Russian Orthodox Church in Ansonia, where he was a member, past treasurer and president of the church co9mmittee. Peter was one of the founders of Three Saints Park in Bethany. He was a member of Russian Orthodox Laymen's League (R.O.L.L.) He was a member of the Federated Russian Orthodox Club (F.R.O.C.) of Ansonia. He was raised a Master Mason February 20, 1945 in George Washington Lodge of Free-masons, now King Hiram #12 A.F.&A.M. He became a 32 Degree Mason in 1947 and was a 60 year member of Lafayette Consistory in Stratford. Peter was also a member of Pyramid Shriners in Milford and the Wadi Shrine Club. He enjoyed time at the Senior Centers of Ansonia, Derby and Seymour. He leaves his daughter, Susan and her husband Bob Bateman of Orange and their children, Greggor, Tyle and Vistoria; his son-in-law Paul Bednarz of Marlborough and his sons, Justin and Jordan; and sisters Julia Stuppin of Seymour, Anna Spakowsky of Ansonia and Eva Kwoka of Oxford. He will be remembered by his nieces, Katherine, Annette, Nancy and Paula along with his nephews, Pazul, Stephen and David. He was predeceased by his son Peter P. Pawchyk, Jr.; daughter Deborah-Ann Bednarz; his brothers, Dimetro Pawchyk and John Pawchyk; and one sister Mary Lombardi. A Funeral Service will be held in Three Saints Russian Orthodox Church Ansonia on Tuesday March 25th. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery Ansonia. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home Ansonia is entrusted with the arrangements.
