Obituary for Shirley J. Detwiler

Shirley J. Detwiler, 81, of District Township, formerly of Dearing, Georgia, died Friday, February 5, 2021, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.  Shirley was the widow of Ralph K. Detwiler, who died in 1992.  Born in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late Leroy and Ida (Beatey) Kay.

 Shirley received a degree in book keeping in Anderson, SC; she also worked as a substitute teacher in the Georgia Public Schools; and operated her own child care center in her home.

 

 Shirley enjoyed reading, bird watching and most of all, crocheting, which she shared her works with family and friends.  She also enjoyed watching cooking shows and collecting and sharing recipes. She was a master at the game of marbles. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

 Shirley is survived by three daughters: Debra J. Wible, wife of James L. Wible, Alburtis; Vickie F. Vaughn, wife of Daniel Mayberry and Kimberly M. Borresen, wife of William Borresen, Georgia.  Other survivors include grandchildren:  Amanda (Wible) Miller; Lacey Wible; Tanya (Sellers) Connelly; Robert Sellers; Sean Blankenbiller; and Colton Borresen; and great grandchildren; Hudson G. Miller, Cash B. Miller, Kane W. Connelly, Kia D. Sellers, and Kona M. Sellers, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. 

 

 In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two bothers, Leroy Kay Jr. and Larry Kay; and sister Frances "Vickie" Grunmeier.

 

 Services are private.
