Obituary for Mrs. Arlene Mae Oswald

Arlene Mae (Adam) Oswald, 92, of Longswamp Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 4, 2021 in her residence surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Paul W. Oswald who died on May 23, 1986.

Born in Maidencreek Township, Arlene was a daughter of the late Alvin D. and Mabel C. (Yenser) Adam. She was a member of Zion's Union Church of Maxatawny, where she was a member of WIZ (Women of Zions), Church Seniors and was a former member of the Church Council. 

Arlene was employed as a Sewing Machine Operator working at the former Marcus Manufacturing and Royal Manufacturing companies for many years until her retirement in 1991. In addition to her church involvement, Arlene was also a member of the Alburtis senior citizens group and The Northeast Women of ELCA, where she served as Treasurer for over 25 years.

Arlene enjoyed crocheting and baking, especially cookies. She always looked forward to her family breakfasts on Thursday mornings and Sunday family dinners. Above all, Arlene loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and most recently, her great-great granddaughter.  

Arlene is survived by her three children, Linda L. (Oswald), wife of Bruce A. Piper, Kutztown, Carol A. (Oswald), wife of Randy J. Kane, Mertztown and Dennis P. Oswald, Mertztown; sister, Dorothy M. (Adam) Reigner, Macungie; nine grandchildren, John, Michael, Beth, Karen, Joey, Korey, Stacey, Lauren and Stephanie; 15 great-grandchildren, Tasha, Alysha, Lainie, Kylie, Dakota, Alexis, Kailyn, Eden, Aiden, Chase, Brayden, Sophie, Brielle, Eliza and Aria; and one great-great granddaughter, Aspen.

In addition to her husband, Arlene was predeceased by her siblings, Lester Adam, Eva Smith, George Adam, Russell Adam, Pearl Fels and Shirley Dyas. 

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 9:30 to 10:45 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA. A funeral service to celebrate and honor her life with Rev. Jeffrey J. Butz officiating will begin at 11:00 a.m. but will be reserved for immediate family members due to the current CDC restrictions on gathering sizes. The service will be LIVE streamed for others to view from home.

Burial will be in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery, Kutztown (Maxatawny Twp.), PA.
