Obituary for Jane Seccombe

Mrs. Seccombe Taken by Death In Her 86th Year

Mrs. Jane Seccombe, 85, of 220 Wakelee Avenue, widow Charles Seccombe, and a highly respected resident of Ansonia for 67 years, died early this morning at the Griffin Hospital after a short illness.  She is the mother of Lionel H. Seccombe, proprietor of Seccombe's Men Shop, and of Stewart F. Seccombe, proprietor of Seccombe's Cleaners.

Mrs. Seccombe was born in Cornwall, England, May 19, 1873, daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Rickard Hill.  She came to Ansonia about 87 years ago, and had made her home here ever since.  Mrs. Seccombe was very well known and well liked and the news of her death will bring sadness to a host of friends, relatives and neighbors.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church; Martha Washington Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and Eliza A. Macoy Court, Order of Amaranth.

In addition to her two sons, Mrs. Seccombe is survived by a daughter, Mrs. E. Herbert Johnson of Orange; another son, Fernleigh C. Seccomber of Buffalo, N.Y.; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews in England and Austrailia.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home of Leslie O. Jensen, 52 State Street. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
