Obituary for Janet L Fazio

Janet Louise Fazio passed away suddenly on Monday, August 3, 2020, while in residence at The Arbors at St. Barnabas in Gibsonia. Born in Pittsburgh on May 16, 1938, she was the daughter of Croce "George" Fazio and Julia Edith Miller. Janet earned a psychology degree from the University of Pittsburgh, a master's degree in public administration from the University of Southern California, and a master's degree in professional writing from Carnegie Mellon University. Janet lived and worked in California for many years. During her career, she was a medical and technical editor and writer, having worked for the University of California - Los Angeles; University of California - Berkeley; the Allegheny Singer Research Institute and Allegheny General Hospital Department of Neurosurgery in Pittsburgh; and Applied Science Associates in Butler, PA, among others. Janet had a lifelong love for cats, books, history, genealogy, wine and a good meal. She volunteered for many years at Animal Friends in the North Hills. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother and his wife, James and Dawna Fazio of Moscow, Idaho; a nephew and his wife, James T. and Jannelle Fazio of Loveland, Colorado; a nephew and his wife, Dan Fazio and Kathleen Brenneman of Zelienople; nephew, Walter C. Fazio of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and niece, Julianna Matiaco and husband Paul Matiaco of Richland, Washington; and great-nieces and nephews, Cassandra Fazio, Alexander Fazio, Kyra Fazio, and Everett and Elden Matiaco. A private burial was held at Penn Forest Natural Burial Park in Verona. Donations may be made in Janet's memory to Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, PA 16063.
