Obituary for Paz G Lugtu

Paz G. Lugtu passed away peacefully on July 28, 2020 at the age of 102. She is predeceased by her husband Emilio and her son Emilio, Jr. She is survived by her children Ruben, Flora and Carol, sons-in-law Carlo and John, daughter-in-law Cora, ten grandchildren and their spouses (Michelle/Jason, Lisa/Mark, Carlene, Robert/Leslie, Gary/Liezel, Rebecca/Gary, Brian/Marie, Giancarlo, Emiliano and Morgan) and 14 great-grandchildren (Chanel, Cheray, Jaylyn, Isabella, Aidan, Blake, Landyn, Madelyn, Miles, Ethan, Joshua, Sophia, Emilia and Olivia).

Paz graduated from the Nursing School of Southern Islands Hospital in Cebu, Philippines. There she met her husband Emilio, an officer in the U.S. army who fell ill and was her patient at the hospital. They married and raised their children in Manila and eventually moved to the United States. During their life in America, she worked as a registered nurse and finally retired after many years from the Newborn Nursery Unit at St. Luke’s Hospital in San Francisco, California. She always enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, sewing and, especially, cooking; she was quite an expert in all of these. She loved and cared for her family joyously and tirelessly.

Visitation will be held from 11am to 3pm on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at an outdoor chapel at Olivet Memorial Park, 1601 Hillside Boulevard, Colma, CA. Attendees must wear masks and socially distance.

There will be no funeral mass. The burial service will be held at 1pm on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Golden Gate National Cemetery, 1300 Sneath Lane, San Bruno, CA. Attendance will be limited to the immediate family members.
