Obituary for Natividad David Austria

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Natividad “Naty” David Austria, our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on May 15, 2020 at the age of 68. Since her diagnosis of Meningioma in 1989, she has defied the odds and overcame six brain surgeries. She left us peacefully surrounded and supported by her loving family, in person and virtually online, during the last few hours of her life.

Natividad David was born December 25, 1951, in San Fernando, Pampanga, Philippines to Alberto and Consolation David, both deceased. She attended San Fernando Elementary School and Jose Abad Santos High School. She graduated from the Far East University then attended the Family Clinic School for Nursing in Manila, Philippines. She arrived in San Francisco by way of Guam and became a registered nurse. She worked as a registered nurse for 20 years at various hospitals around the San Francisco.

On May 7, 1977, Naty married Ricardo Austria. Naty was a loving wife and devoted mother to Gilbert and Richard. She loved to cook and make sure everyone was full. She had a passion for growing flowers; orchids were her favorite. She enjoyed the arts, especially playing and listening to the piano. She loved watching Broadway shows and musicals such as the Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables.

In the years following becoming disabled, her activities decreased yet she continued to remain committed to her family. She lived a life of service to her family, her friends, and to God. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Naty was predeceased by her father, Alberto David Sr. and her mother Consolacion Santos David. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ricardo Austria; sons Gilbert Austria and Richard Austria (Jessica Witty Austria); siblings Amelia Gomez, Cristina Soriano, Lucy Douglas, Alberto David Jr., Donny David, Tito David, Manuel David and Florence David-Hipolito; and a host of beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
