Obituary for ARLENE MARY OBERTO

Arlene Mary Oberto was born May 9, 1921 in Knoxville, Iowa to John and Veda (Clouse) Baiotto. She was a long-time member of the Eastside Church of the Nazarene, and held the honor of being the oldest living member. Arlene was an avid reader of her Bible and many other books. She was her family’s prayer warrior. Arlene enjoyed going to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s school programs. Saturdays were always for baking. She made the best apple pie, bread, and dinner rolls. She never missed celebrating holidays at her home. So many special family memories were created around the holidays. Arlene was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. She passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020 at the age of 98.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Barbara (Warren) Kyer, Steve (Shelba) Oberto, Alan (Linda) Oberto, Nancy (Craig) Redshaw, and Janna (Walt) Mozdzer; grandchildren, Kenton (Karey) Kyer, Neal (Sara) Kyer, and Dina (Gene) Parker; great-grandchildren, Haley Parker, Trevon Kyer, Nathan Parker, Savannah Kyer, Cole Kyer, Cade Parker, and Talon Kyer; sister, Gladys McBride; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Max James Oberto; parents, John and Veda Baiotto; and her siblings, Paul Baiotto, Margaret Dunlap, Jean Schuler, and Ernie Baiotto.

All services will be held at Eastside Church of the Nazarene, 1451 E 25th Street, Des Moines, IA 50317. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2020. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2020. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
