Obituary for Guadalupe Montanez Garcia

Guadalupe Montanez Garcia, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. She was 82.

Lupe was born on December 9, 1937 in Las Varas, Saucillo. She was the youngest child of Juan and Clara Montanez. Lupe met her husband, Mario Garcia, when she was nineteen. They were married less than a year later and together had five children, Virgie, Luis, Raul, Freddie, and Becky, thirteen grandchildren, Monica, Mario, Anthony, Stephanie, Christopher, Tony, Angelo, Hailey, Angelica, Rosa, Xavier, Marco, and Katrina, and five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Liam, Brennan, Noah and Luciana. Lupe and Mario celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary earlier this year.

Lupe loved watching her novelas, playing bingo, going to the casino, and winning big at loteria. She also enjoyed talking on the phone with her sisters, spending time with her commadre, and shopping. In her later years, she enjoyed listening to music on her iPad and watching episodes of Causa Cerrado on YouTube. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family and cooking. She was famous for her beans.

Lupe was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Lala, Juanita, Juliana, Licha, and Cuca, and brother, Manuel.
