Obituary for Shirley H Hatch

Shirley H. (nee Hanby) Hatch, 85, of White Horse Village, died October 4, 2019 at home.

Born in Philadelphia and raised in Towson, Maryland, she was a graduate of the Friends School of Baltimore. Shirley received her Bachelor's degree in Music from the University of Delaware and worked as an elementary school music teacher before giving birth to her first son.

With a lifelong love of music, she sang solos and duets and participated in various church choirs.

Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Benjamin M. Hatch, Jr. who died in 2013. After raising their children in Bryn Mawr, they lived in Colorado for a period. Returning to Pennsylvania, they lived at Hershey’s Mill and attended Church of the Saviour in Wayne.

Shirley enjoyed travel, crafts, and word puzzles, and was an avid reader. She was a resident of White Horse Village for the past five years.

Survivors include her sons, Stephen (Joanne) Hatch, John (Christie) Hatch, Andrew (Ilona) Hatch, and grandchildren Crystal, Holly, and Charlie. 

Service: Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Toppitzer Funeral Home at Arlington, 2900 State Rd., Drexel Hill, where friends may call after 10:30 am.

Interment: Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA.
