Obituary for Marina Fabian Pingul

Celebrating the Life of

Marina Fabian Pingul

Marina Fabian Pingul, age 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, surrounded by her devoted family.

Lovingly known as “Apu Maring” or “Apu” by everyone, she was a generous and kind-hearted human being. Apu was born on July 6, 1928, in Minalin, Pampanga, Philippines. She was the youngest of two children of the late Emiterio Fabian and Soledad Intal Fabian.

Growing up in Pampanga, Apu fell in love with Ciriaco Pingul and they eventually married in 1945. Together, they had 12 wonderful children--- Monica, the late Jesus, Nestor, Florentina, Zosima, Joel, Maria, Cesar, Remigio, Agnes, Enrico, and the late Jay.

Having a large family meant a large support system, but it also came with difficult times. Apu was faced with 2 significant tragedies in her life that included the loss of her two sons --- Jesus (1948-1969) and Jay (1971-1975). Although Apu learned to accept their loss, this only made her a stronger individual and even more determined to keep her family a priority.

In 1979, Apu followed her husband and her eldest daughter, Monica, 2 years after they immigrated to the United States. Her goal was to eventually bring the rest of her children to America for better opportunities. With every chance they were given to build onto their new life, Apu took on many jobs as a babysitter, while her husband worked 2 to 3 jobs at a time in different restaurants.

By 1980, she was able to petition 4 of her children who immigrated to the United States; And by 1985, she was able to eventually move her entire family to America for her dream of a better future. At this time, her family was rapidly growing with the birth of a few more grandchildren. Apu lived a simple life but she was always grateful and fulfilled, knowing that she was constantly surrounded by her family.

Apu exuded kindness, giving her last nickel to anyone who needed it most, even when she did not have much. Her humor and light-hearted jokes would bring everyone together and make an entire room laugh. She was beloved among her friends and family for her warmth and hospitality, making herself available for everyone who needed her. Wherever Apu went, everyone followed.

Apu was a loving grandmother to Michelle, Melanie, Jomel, John Kris, Hazel, Lance, Anthony, Marian, Kirck, Merry Jo, Mark, Maricel, Nicole, Jeremy, Chloe, Joshua, Patricia, Ericka, Angelica, Chelsey, and Ashley.

She was an affectionate great-grandmother to Nico, Ava, Isabella, Madison, Oliver, Tiffany, Jordon, Taylor, and Justice.

Through Apu’s compassion, generosity and unfailing commitment to her family’s livelihood, she sought to lead them through 3 generations that would continue to show and carry on the meaning of “family values”. For this, our family is overwhelmingly grateful of her love.

Your life was a blessing
