Helen Canlas Fuentes 

Helen Canlas Fuentes, age 96, passed away on July 22, 2019. Helen is survived by her 9 children,  namely:  Terri, Ellen, Chato, Buds, Virgil, Pinky, Romy, Titos & Ditas.  She is survived by her 15 grandchildren, Yessika, Charlotte, Ashley, Sam, Joanne, Shaddy, Shanti, Marice, April, Kristine, Paolo, Kyle, Patrick, Frances & C-Rod and great grandchildren, Nikki, Lorenzo, Sophia Rose &  Xiomara. Helen was born in Davao City, Philippines and studied medicine. When she migrated to the United States in the late 70’s, she worked as an Administrative Assistant for the City and County of Francisco for over 15+ years.  Morever, Helen loved playing the piano and her interests ran from classical music to oldies but goodies. She was always requested to play at various community non-profit organizations.  She would joyously take on impromptu requests at a moment’s notice. Her zest for life and vibrant energy was infectious and she always lifted  everyone’s spirit around her. Her absolute independence, fearless personality and passion for world travel took her all over the world. She had a HUGE heart and her friendliness, profound compassion for people and her bilingual skills made her very popular and endearing resident to the beloved tenants of Mission Plaza Apartments where she lived for the last 30+ years. She overcame challenges throughout her life and these personal and learning experiences gave her the inner strength to move forward. A devout Catholic, her strong faith kept her going despite adversities. She has had a blessed and full life with memorable moments, unforgettable journeys and priceless adventures. She couldn’t have asked for a more fulfilled life.
