Obituary for Lucille G. Wong

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother has gone to join our Dad, Paul.  They are happily together again.

Lucille was born in Merced, California, where she lived with her parents who ran a laundry and other businesses.  For a period, she and her family lived in China prior to WWII, where she formed a local girls basketball team.  While her parents remained in China, she and her siblings returned to the San Francisco Bay Area when the War started and proceeded to complete their education and attain jobs around the area.

She met Paul Wong, through her sister Louise and began a courtship, with Paul chasing up to Lake Tahoe to be with Lucille while she was there on a summer job.  They married in Las Vegas, Nevada and lived in San Francisco and the Seattle area while Paul was in the US Army before shipping out to the Asian War arena.  After the War, they lived in Santa Cruz, CA for awhile before settling in San Francisco, where she became a devoted housewife and mother.  Prior to having a family and after when the children were old enough, she was a sales associate at the SF Emporium and Macy’s for over 20 years.  She also partnered and supported Paul in the running of the Paul’s restaurant Ho Ho and the family grocery stores on Revere and 24th Street in intervening years.

Lucille is fondly remembered by friends and family and leaves behind:

Aaron and Maelene Wong (Geoffrey and Virginia Wong with Megan and Chloe, Trisha Wong and Collin Lee with Madeline and Grace), Leary and Nina Wong (Kirra Wong and Tajuan Greene with Tiyana, Eric Wong), Brace Wong and Phyllis Mo (Kevin and Crystal Mo-Wong, with Kai, Ryan and Mark Cooper with Leila and Eli), Cheryl Wong-Ng (Tracy and Colin Ikeda), and Ronald and Vanessa Wong (Karena and Rex Sosa, with Rin, and Nicole and Ritchie Satumbaga, with Dylan and Liam).

Lucille was predeceased by:

Her Beloved Husband Paul Z. Wong, Parents Gong Gim Hick and Low Seen Gee, Brothers and Sisters Chun Moy, Thomas Gong, Louise Choy, Lillian Wong, Linda Low, Lee Gong, and Harry Gong.
