Obituary for Irandokht Foroudi

We come together today to celebrate the life of Irandokht Foroudi.  She was born in Tehran, Iran on April 6, 1921 to

parents Abdolhossein and Ozra Foroudi and the eldest of five siblings.  She immigrated to San Francisco in 1984 with her husband Mohammed Ali Akhbari whom she had been married to for over 65 years until his passing in April 2004.

Irandokht was a talented seamstress.  For 40 years she pursued her passion in creating beautiful gowns and wedding dresses.

We called Irandokht “Maman” which means Mother.  A

beloved mother to Khosrow, Heideh, Parviz, Reza, Fahimeh and Hamid; a doting grandmother to her eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  Maman was devoted to her family and close friends and she enjoyed cooking and preparing

delicious Persian dishes for everyone to enjoy when they would come and visit.  She had a generous and kind heart and was

always willing to extend a helping hand to those in need.  Her joy in life was to bring happiness to others.

We will miss Maman’s loving spirit, energy and presence.  But her love and her memory will forever be engraved in our hearts.
