HIS LIFE

Eliseo Bitagon Barañgan, devoted husband of Concordia Sagum Barañgan, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 87 surrounded by his loving family.  He is survived by his wife, Concordia, his children, Edwin and spouse Cathy, Charlene, Eric, and his ten grandchildren, Antoinette, Patrick, Justin, Narissa, Donovan, Keilani, Christian, Madelynn, Gabrielle, and Nicholas. Eliseo is survived by his brother, Loreto.  Eliseo joins in Heaven, his parents, Julian and Tiburcia, his siblings, Cayetano, Gregoria, Lucia, Benedicto, and Trinidad.

Eliseo was born on January 12, 1932 in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines.  He spent his childhood in Ilocos Norte then moved to Quezon City to live with his older brother while he attended the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.

In 1955, Eliseo enlisted in the United States Navy with hopes and dreams of a life in the United States.  His tour duty with the US Navy brought him to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he was stationed at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, California.  It was during his time that he met the love of his life, Concordia Sagum who he married in San Francisco at Saint Monica’s Church in 1968.

Eliseo continued his journey with his new wife and the Navy with tours of duty in Scotland, Puerto Rico, and Virginia, along with many deployments at sea in the Atlantic and Europe.  During these years, Eliseo and Concordia started their family and had three children; Edwin, Charlene, and Eric.  Eliseo spent 22 years in the US Navy, and he retired in 1977 to San Francisco California to be closer to family.

Eliseo continued work after his Navy retirement in San Francisco and later at Alameda Naval Air Station.  Eliseo and Concordia bought a house in Hercules where they built many memories with their children, then grandchildren.  Eliseo was a proud and honorable man who was soft spoken man that put others before himself as evident by all the sacrifices he made for his family.
