Obituary for Mohamadali Mostafavi Rejali

Amir Rejali passed away on May 14, 2019. He is survived by his wife Mehrangiz, their son Shahab and two daughters, Torfeh and Shirin.

Amir was born in Iran on 7/10/1929. He completed his studies in the United States and received multiple graduate degrees in Agricultural Economics. He was grateful to his father for teaching him the value and importance of education and passed that along to his children and grandson.

He had a distinguished career in Iran, serving in high level positions in Agriculture and Fisheries where he designed irrigation systems and worked with local farmers to help expand and develop their farms. After the Islamic Revolution he became the head of the Fisheries, jokingly calling himself the “King of Caviar.”

He married his sweetheart, Mehrangiz, in 1957 and after the revolution the two came to the United States to spend the latter half of their lives with their children.

Amir loved life. He enjoyed traveling and dancing and stayed active most of his life, working in his garden and taking long walks around Stow Lake with his wife. He loved smelling the fresh air and looking at the sky. Even when his mind and body started to slow down with Alzheimer’s he would look out the window next to his bed and remark about the beautiful blue sky and the San Francisco skyline. But above all else, he loved having his wife and his family around him at all times. He loved being home and home was where family was.

Thank you dear Amir for teaching us to see the beauty in things, to laugh, to enjoy every breath and to look after one another, just as you looked after all of us.

We will always carry your spirit and lessons with us. See you on the other side!

“And the sun and the moon sometimes argue over who will tuck me in at night. If you think I am having more fun than anyone on this planet, you are absolutely correct.” Hafiz
