Obituary for Lourdes V. Justo

Nanay’s Obituary

Lourdes passed peacefully surrounded by her dearest loved ones on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the age of 78 in Seton Medical Center. Lourdes is survived by her children: Jaime, Barbara, Jocelyn, Jonathan, Josephine, Maria, Jonas, and Charito; 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Lourdes “Ludy” Villatito Justo was born on December 7, 1940, to Pedro Villatito and Maria Mercado in Camarines Sur, Philippines. Lourdes worked as an announcer at an AM Radio called Harana Sa Barrio. During her free time, she loved to cook, especially Bicol Gata and Laing, and planting plants. Then, Lourdes met and married Fortunato Justo. However, he died in April 1978, leaving eight children and Lourdes widowed at 32.

Lourdes immigrated to the United States in August of 1997 with one of her daughters, Jocelyn. She petitioned all her children in the Philippines, which took almost 10 years to make happen, in hopes of giving her children a much better life than what they would have had if they stayed. Lourdes worked very hard, managing 3 jobs, in order to take care of her family and sending money to her children in the Philippines, while also helping her siblings. She was always happy to help her family with their problems and struggles, putting others before herself. Although many obstacles were in the way, she was able to bring six of her children to the United States and one in Australia.

Lourdes loved spending time with her family. She always loved seeing her children together with smiles on their faces. She will always be remembered for her caring personality, generosity toward others, and selfless sacrifices. Lourdes has loved so many people in her life and her impact on others will always live in every person's life she has touched. She had never hesitated to help or be kind to anyone, let alone kill an insect. She was always full of happiness and we will never forget her. Every mother is special, but Lourdes is the most perfect mother in our hearts.
