Celebrating the Life of Louise DeLois Lewis
Sunrise: December 20, 1948 Sunset: April 18, 2019

Louise DeLois Lewis (nee Thomas) was born December 20, 1948 to the late Mary Lee Thomas and the late Joe Jenkins in Jackson, Mississippi where she attended and graduated from Lanier High School in 1966. Immediately after graduating from high school, Louise spent time in Chicago where she enrolled in and graduated from Freeman Business School in 1968. She was an active member at the family church of Society Ridge Baptist Church in Pocahontas, Mississippi.

Louise arrived in Washington, DC in 1968 where she forged a successful career as a contracts administrator with the federal government for 32 years with the United States Department of the Navy, finishing her career at the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation in 2007. She thoroughly enjoyed her retirement doing the things she loved — decorating, shopping, and spending quality time with her loving family.

Louise was the beloved wife of Wade Lewis, Jr. to whom she had been married to for 51 years and the extremely loving mother to two daughters, Sondra Michelle Lewis and Cheryl Renea Lewis who love her more than life itself. She taught her daughters the true meaning of life and to cherish the love for God and to seek their own path to his greatness. Louise didn’t have grandchildren, but she has several nieces, nephews, and great and great grand nieces and nephews who dearly loved her. She is survived by her brother Eugene Davis of Jackson, Mississippi and sisters, Ceola Thomas of Jackson, Mississippi, Gloria Lambert and Joann Jenkins of Chicago, Illinois.
