Obituary for Jose Siu Chuen Auyeung

Jose Siu Chuen Auyeung

April 15, 1941 – November 29, 2018

Jose Siu Chuen Auyeung, aged 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a brief illness at Mercy San Juan Hospital in Sacramento, California on Thursday, November 29, 2018.

He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 52 years, Jane (Mei Jing); son Edward and his wife Sandra; son David and his wife Jocelyn; daughter Peggy and her husband Tim; daughter Diana; and 10 grandchildren: Megan, Samuel, Brooke, Elliott, Matthew, Alyssa, Charlotte, Addison, Joi and Mae.  He is also survived by his brother, sisters, and many nieces and nephews.

Born in the Fah Yuen Province in Guangdong China, Jose was the son of Jack and Siu Loo Auyeung.  He first immigrated to Panama (and became fluent in Spanish!) before being reunited with Jane in the U.S.  They married in 1966 and built a life together in Sacramento, California. He became a grocer and opened Santa Fe Market in North Highlands, which he ran for 30 years.  In his spare time he had a passion for gardening, especially reaping the benefits of vegetables from his own yard. Upon retirement, he spent time with his many grandchildren and traveled before mounting a successful battle against both lung and brain cancer for which he was in remission for the past 10 years.

Friends and family are welcome to attend the visitation on Saturday, December 15 from 5-7:30 pm and/or funeral service on Sunday, December 16 at 1 pm at Cypress Lawn, 1370 El Camino Real, Colma, CA.  Burial to follow at the Lok San Chinese Cemetery, 4650 Callan Blvd, Daly City.
