Obituary for Raymond Louis Pelesh

Raymond Louis Pelesh, age 77, beloved husband of Joan Zbell Pelesh of Stratford, died peacefully on October 26, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center with his family by his side. Born in Ansonia on February 27, 1941, he was the son of the late Louis and Sophie Piurek Pelesh. Mr. Pelesh was raised in Ansonia and graduated from New Haven College (now the University of New Haven) with a B.S. in Engineering. He worked for many years as an engineer for the Avco-Lycoming Company and was later employed as a letter carrier with the USPS in the Westville section of New Haven, for 17 years until his retirement in 2006. He was a lifelong member of Three Saints Orthodox Church where he was active in the choir. Mr. Pelesh was an avid bowler and participated in many leagues and tournaments. A sports enthusiast at heart, he loved the NY Yankees and was fortunate enough to attend many Superbowls. In addition to his childhood sweetheart and beloved wife of 7 years, he is survived by his stepsons, Paul (Roxanne) Zbell, MD of AL and John (Jennifer) Zbell of Stratford; a sister-in-law, Virginia (Walter) Lukashevich of PA; cherished grandchildren, Phillip and Matthew Zbell of AL and Madison and Connor Zbell of Stratford; a cousin, Dorothy (James) Scrobko of Glastonbury; a goddaughter, Christine Mazzotta of Kensington, as well as several other cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will take place at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, Meeting Directly At Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J.
