Obituary for Mildred E Hall

Mildred E. Hall, (nee Degan), on July 26, 2018, age 94 1/2 of Newtown Square, Pa, formerly from Havertown.

Born in Reading, PA, she graduated from Audubon High School and the nursing program from Hahnemann Hospital, working there from 1941-1944, then to the hospital in West Chester from 1945-1947. While at Hahnemann Hospital she was a scrub nurse on the very first "Lung Transplant" performed at the hospital.

She was a former member of the Temple Lutheran Church on Brookline Blvd. in Havertown where she was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of Council, she has most recently been a member of Spruce Street Baptist Church. She was past president of the United Auxiliaries from 1954-1966, president of the Doctor's Wives of Delaware County Hospital. She was the oldest living member of Rolling Green CC, where she was an avid golfer, she helped organize trips to NYC and decorating the club for various social gatherings. She was also a member of the 9 holer ladies group.

She married Robert L. Hall, M.D. on June 1, 1944, who passed away on August 19, 1994, she is survived by her daughters Judy Hall Laughlin of Newtown Square and Joyce Thomas of Rehoboth Beach, DE, her grandchildren, Hillary, R.T., and Kelly, her great grandchildren, Brogan, Jakyb, Dillon, Raymond, Charlotte, and Bryce. her sister Carolyn Lehman Johnson of Rehoboth Beach, DE.

Relatives and friends are invited to her calling on Thursday morning, 10:00 to 11:00 Am in Spruce Street Baptist Church, Gradyville Rd. & Newtown Street Rd., Newtown Square, PA 19073, followed by her funeral service at 11;00 AM.

Interment: Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA.
