Obituary for Joan Novarro

Joan T. Novarro, 74, of Clinton, wife of Arthur Novarro, affectionately known as Grandma Joan, entered into eternal rest June 14 at Essex Meadows Health Center. Joan was born Nov. 1, 1943 in Derby, CT., the daughter of the late Walter Taras and Mary Kosko Taras. She worked as an administrator and educator for Eli Whiney LPN program. After retirement she was an Adjunct Professor of Nursing at Southern CT State University. Grandma Joan enjoyed her grandchildren, reading, gardening, crabbing and fishing, and was a master seamstress and an avid shopper. She leaves two sons, Arthur W. Novarro Jr. and wife Jane of Clinton, CT. and Greg Novarro and wife Melanie of Highland Village, Texas, daughter Katherine Beecher and husband Bradley of North Carolina, sister Sandra Fainer and husband James of Fernandina Beach, Florida, 8 grandchildren, several nieces & nephews, and two dedicated childhood friends, Louise Pelizzari & Carol Palmer. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Three Saints Orthodox Church in Ansonia. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
