Obituary for Jeremy Dwight Dolphin

Jeremy Dwight Dolphin

August 14, 1977- July 10, 2017

Jeremy was a kind hearted, soft spoken, generous and humble man. In addition to being the loving father of Jacob, Zachary and Halle, he was their personal trampoline, cheerleader, champion hide and seeker and daddy. He could often be found filling his dad’s shoes by helping his mom, Jill, on projects, cooking meals (but not washing the dishes), good naturedly ribbing his sisters, Jessica and Janessa or playing airplane with his niece Caroline.

He was the Director of Catering for Pioneer College Caterers at Mid America Nazarene University. While employed with Pioneer, Jeremy received the Fast Track Award in 2016 and Rookie of the Year Award in 2017.  He was the honorary captain of the Mid America football team; Jeremy truly loved his work, especially the people he employed and served. Despite his accolades, Jeremy would tell you that his greatest accomplishment and pride are his three children.

To know Jeremy was to know he was a gentle giant who cared deeply and could be entrusted to carry much. His innate creativity enabled him to serve with excellence. He was a gifted leader, administrator and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Jeremy particularly loved the Miami Dolphins, KU Basketball, golfing and hot wings. His mechanical aptitude was appreciated by many and he could always be called upon to fix difficult problems.

He leaves a void that will never be filled, but we rejoice and find comfort in the promised hope of being with him in Eternity. Left to remember Jeremy’s life are his children Jacob, Zachary and Halle Dolphin, mother Jill Hiebert (Jack), sister Jessica Pluff (Matt), niece Caroline, sister Janessa Henges (Josh), grandmother Anna Grace Dolphin, biological mother Joyce Matern, brothers Matt and Brett Matern and their families, many aunts and uncles, lots of cousins and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his father, George Dolphin, uncle, Richard Dolphin and grandparents Don and Alda Mallery.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, July 15 at 2 p.m. at Hope Alive Church, 9675 159th St, Overland Park, KS 66221.

We would like to thank all of our family and friends for celebrating Jeremy’s life with us. We would especially like to thank Mid America Nazarene University and Pioneer College Caterers for their generosity and support at this time.

Rest assured the meals in Heaven just got a little better.
