Obituary for Edith W. O'Brien

Edith W. (nee Waugh) O'Brien 91,Drexel Hill, PA died June 8, 2018, at her lifetime home.

Raised in Drexel Hill, she was a graduate of Upper Darby High School,Class of '44 and the former Drexel Institute of Technology (Drexel University). Edith had been employed as an Administrative Assistant by Presbyterian Medical Center in their  chaplain's office. a member of the former Christ Presbyterian Church, Drexel Hill, Edith enjoyed cooking, classic movies and theater.

Known for her sense of humor, she was a classic punster. Bingo at St. Andrew's and trips to the Casino were amony favorite pastimes. It was on oneof those trips that she met and had her photo taken with Ole Blue Eyes himself, Frank Sinatra and dear friend, Evelyn Harders. "Not bad for an old gal".

A fan of all types of music from Big Bands to Elvis to Patsy Cline,Roy Orbison and the Rat Pack, she loved them all. Edith will be be remembered as a loving mother and great friend, driving friends to events, appointments, shopping or just for fun.

She was active in the Alumni of Upper Darby, Drexel and was a member of the American Association of University Women.

Survivors include her son, Eric O'Brieen (Brian Bell), daughter, Laura Black; companion and caregiver Lisa Staiber; and dear friends.

Service: Memorial Service will be 11 am Wednesday at Toppitzer Funeral Home at Arlington Cemetery, 2900 State Rd., Drexel Hill. visitation: 10 am.
