James J.  Dunn, 67, of Upland, PA, died May 27, 2018 at Crozer Keystone Hospice. Born in Newark, NJ to Richard and Mercedes Dunn, he was raised in Madison, NJ and attended St. Vincent Martyr Grammar School and Madison High School.  He had been a longtime a resident of Upland, PA. A graduate of Villanova University class of ’73, he had been employed as an Electronics Technician by Greentree Services for 20 years and more recently by Industrial Computer Engineers in Aston, PA.

Jim was the first of 6 children and as the eldest he was expected to set the example for his siblings. He struggled with this at times, but his brothers and sisters learned from his example as well as his mistakes. As a youngster he was ahead of his time in the electronics world; his main hobby was assembling Heath Kit projects including ham radios and other electronic devices in his radio room.  One particular project was a TV antenna that took up a large amount of space in the attic in Madison.

As a child, he enjoyed summers at the Jersey Shore with his family.  He learned to water ski at an early age, and enjoyed times with his father and brothers on their small boat.  Thoroughly embracing the Baby Boomer culture, Jim played guitar in a band in high school and later took on the hippy trappings of a beard and long hair.  His first car was a VW bug and he attended Woodstock. Later Jim enjoyed gardening, became an avid reader and remained interested and active in electronics.

He will be remembered for being thoroughly dedicated to his wife, son and mother, and loyal to his family.

Survivors: include his wife of 38 years, Patricia (nee Furlani); his son, Ian Dunn, brothers, Thomas Dunn, Richard Dunn, Christopher Dunn and his sisters, Mary Ann Drury and Susan Candio.
