Obituary for Patricia Smith Ackerknect

Patricia A. (Smith) Ackerknecht, age 75, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday evening, May 12, 2018, at Griffin Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Patricia was born in Bridgeport on April 20, 1943, attended Warren G. Harding H.S., graduating from Ansonia H.S. in 1961. She was the daughter of the late Harold N. Smith Sr. and Wanda L. Pazik Smith. A resident of Beacon Falls for over thirty years, she was employed as an office manager until her retirement. She loved carnations, was a voracious reader and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could make you laugh until you both cried. She would do anything for anyone (and often did!) never needing anything in return. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, gigi, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. She will never be forgotten. She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Tracy L. DeBarber (Matthew) of Naugatuck, a son, Russell J. Ackerknecht (Debra Peters) of Thomaston, a brother, Mark D. Smith (Donna) of VA, grandchildren, Pvt. Zachary J. Ackerknecht, CT Army National Guard, of Thomaston, Ashley DeBarber (Jon Lango) of Prospect and Jasmine Farrell of Thomaston, great-grandson, Elias Lango and several nieces and nephews whom she adored. She was predeceased by a brother, Harold N. Smith Jr. and a sister, Noreen A. Bioski. Per Patricia's request, her funeral service and burial in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia, will be private and at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to your local animal shelter or veteran's organization. The SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME in Ansonia, has been privileged with the arrangements. The family would like to recognize and thank the outstanding staff at Griffin Hospital for their exemplary care of mom. Their kindness and love has not gone unnoticed. We are forever grateful for all that you have done for her and our family. To send an act of sympathy, please visit www.spinelliricciutifh.com.
