Obituary for Betty Hurd Miller

Betty Hurd Miller, 97, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2018, at Riddle Village, Media, PA.

She was preceded in death by parents, Leroy J. Hurd and Effie J. Hurd; sister, Jean H. Sellers; husband, Robert D. Miller; daughter, Gayle M. Gschweng; dear friend and companion, John A. Zimmermann.

She was born on July 4, 1920, in Philadelphia, PA. Following graduation from Upper Darby High School, she attended the Philadelphia College of Art. As an accomplished and prolific artist, her work captured the transparency of watercolor and she enjoyed the challenge of large acrylic painting on canvas. She was a member of the American Watercolor Society - Associate, Pennsylvania Watercofor Society - Signature, Philadelphia Watercolor Society - Signature, Delaware County Art League, and the Naples Art Association.

Betty was also an avid gardener. Betty is survived by her son, Garret Clark Miller; daughter-in-law, Margaret Cochran Miller; Son-in-law, Fred Gschweng; five grandchildren: Todd Miller, Amy Farley, Christopher Gschweng, Emilie Brown, Andrew Gschweng; five great-grandchildren; and dear friend, Anne Marie Lindeborg.

She was a member of Lima Methodist Church.
