Obituary for Stanley A. Yamokoski

Dr. Stanley A. Yamokoski, DDS Stanley A. Yamokoski, 94, passed away December 6, 2017. Stan was born July 29, 1923 in Kent, Ohio to the late Anthoni and Helen Yamokoski. He graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School, Kent State University and St. Louis School of Dentistry where he graduated #1 in his class, an achievement he was extremely proud of. Stan was a World War II veteran serving as a meteorologist in the Naval Air Corp stationed in Japan. After the war he married his sweetheart, Jean Yamokoski, and moved to Cuyahoga Falls where he practiced dentistry for 48 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Anthoni Yamokoski; his wife of 50 years, Jean T. Yamokoski; and his brothers, Charles Yamokoski, Alex Yamokoski, Tony Yamokoski and Paul Young. He is survived by his daughters, Paula (Wayne) Chester, Anne (Jim) Wheeler, Janie (Mark) Gathagan; grandchildren, Doug (Renee), Chester, Collin (Shanna) Wheeler, Laura (Shane) Clemons, Lindsey (Justin) Gulliver, Brooks Gathagan, Bryce Gathagan and Brandon Gathagan; as well as 11 great-grandchildren. He loved his family and was deeply loved by his family. Everywhere he went he was "Stan the man", embraced by all. Stanley was the kindest most caring man you could ever meet and he made everyone''s life a little better by knowing him. He loved to sing and he sang to anyone and everyone who would listen. In addition to his love of dentistry, Stan loved fishing, playing golf, painting and spent countless hours doing these activities with his children and grandchildren. Nothing gave him more joy than attending his grandchildren''s sporting events where he was usually the loudest fan there. Stan''s family would like to thank The Gardens of Western Reserve for the wonderful care that they provided in his last years, as well as the Hospice Care who aided him and the family in his last days. A memorial service in his honor will be scheduled at a later date. ADAMS MASON FUNERAL HOME, 330-535-9186. Published in Akron Beacon Journal on Dec. 10, 2017
