Obituary for Scott G. Findlay

Scott G. Findlay, 61, of Mertztown, died on Friday, January 19, 2018 in Longswamp Township. He was the husband of Mayra N. (Mejia) Findlay, whom he married on June 17, 2006. Born in Allentown, Scott was the oldest child of the late Eugene D. Findlay, who died on July 5, 2015 and Shirley L. (Reifinger) Findlay, who died February 24, 2016. He was a 1974 graduate of Emmaus High School, and continued his education at Bloomsburg University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Scott was employed as an Auditor by PMA Insurance Group, Blue Bell, PA, working at their Allentown office for 39 years. Scott was a life-member and the current Recording Secretary for Nimrod Fish & Wildlife Association, Alburtis, where he also served as a past President and Treasurer. He was also a member of Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion, Topton, and the Mertztown and Alburtis Rod and Gun Clubs. Scott was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed reading, history, especially the Civil War, and Clint Eastwood movies. Scott was a great husband, father, brother, son, uncle and friend, who will be sorely missed. The family would like to express their gratitude to those who helped in the search for Scott, after  he had been reported as missing on Wednesday, January 17.

In addition to his wife of 11 years, Mayra, Scott is survived by his two sons, Brett T. Findlay, Madison, WI and Troy M. Findlay, Alburtis; step-children, Jazmin M. (Mejia), wife of Jose Veliz, Hamilton, NJ, Juan P., husband of Maria J. Gutierres, Levittown, Carlos M., husband of Shirley T. (Chacon) Mejia, Newtown, and Mayra A. (Mejia), wife of Mario Figeroa, Guatemala; and 11 step - grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Erin (Findlay), wife of Jeffrey L. Rishel, York, Thomas L., husband of Amy C. (Snyder) Findlay, Alburtis, Susie G. (Findlay), wife of Gary W. Hartman, Kutztown, and Julie A. Findlay, Allentown; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Scott's life will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Arthur L. Hahn officiating.. Burial will follow in Lehigh Zion Cemetery, Alburtis. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
