John Stanley Campbell Jr.,
John Stanley Campbell Jr., 95, passed away on December 27, 2017.
John was born, raised and lived most of his adult life in New York. He was born in Brooklyn and later moved to Long Island where he enjoyed gardening, nature, going to the beach and listening to his favorite music. He was New York through and through--you only had to visit for a few minutes with him to know he was from New York.
His legacy shines through his family--memories of the wonderful times we shared. He was most happy when he knew all the kids, grandkids and great-grandchildren were healthy and happy. He taught us all to enjoy life and to laugh while we did it. He was quick to see the humor in things--quick to laugh and to love.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, who he loved deeply. They raised children, and lived a lot of life together--but through the good and bad times they were there for each other.
He was a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, N.Y. and served in World War II. While serving, his time was spent in convoys where he transported troops and supplies to the war zones in the South Pacific and the North Atlantic theatres. After his service, he finished his education with a Bachelor''s degree from Pratt Institute School of Architecture. He practiced in his field for many years and was involved in many projects - both professional and helping family out with their home renovations. He was a very caring person, willing to help wherever needed. John was a member of the Charles Faust, American Legion Post 281.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Gregory John Campbell and sister, Janice Campbell. He is survived by wife of 74 years, Barbara Campbell; sons, Bruce (Debbie), Wayne (Lorraine) Campbell; daughter, Patti (Jack) Nitzsche; grandchildren, Melanie Ludwig; Craig (Danielle) Campbell, Lauren (Greg) Clark, Corinne Campbell, Allison Campbell, Brian Nitzsche, Megan Nitzsche; great-children, Olivia Ludwig, Brandon Campbell and Brooks Clark; and many other loving family and friends.
Visitation and service will be January 6th at the First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30, with the funeral service following. John''s final resting place will be at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Alzheimer''s Association, P.O.
