Obituary for Charles V. Roberts Jr.

 

Charles V. Roberts, Jr., 82, of Oxford, PA, died January 6, 2018 at home. Raised in Collingdale, he was a longtime resident of Clifton Heights before moving to Oxford. Charlie had been employed 20 years as a Pattern Maker at Boeing before retiring in 2004.

A member of the U. A. W. Union, he had 48 years working in job shops & pattern shops including  Westinghouse Co, Baldwin, Sun Ship, Dodge Steel, Burns & Wohlgamuth, Cornog Pattern, Boeing Helicopter CoHe was also involved in creating Moldings and patterns for Disney’s original building of EPCOT & Caesar’s Casino. Charlie was part of the team that designed and created templates and patterns on the PACE car (for NASCAR), Mold and fabrication of parade props for Macy’s.  

Charlie was a Journeyman Pattern Maker as recognized and certified by the Pa Department Labor & Industry. He held numerous certification cards, received Industrial Arts Awards and held the equivalent of a Bachelor of Arts degree.

His hobbies included fishing, camping, making and restoring furniture. Charlie also designed and built construction projects including home additions.

Husband of the late Marie (nee Orlando) who died in 2004, survivors include his children, Lynn (Aceto), Patty  (John) Antonelli, Chuck Roberts, Michael Roberts, Debbie (Tom) McArdle; 3 sisters, Ann Gilmore, Barbara Jenkins and Jackie (Bob) Hoder; 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren

Funeral Service will be 11AM Saturday, January 13th at the Toppitzer Funeral Home at Arlington, 2900 State Rd., Drexel Hill. Visitation: 6-8PM, Friday eve, & 10AM Saturday.

Burial will be at Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA.
