Catherine Veronica Sullivan, aged 86, died on December 20, 2017, at The Fairfax at Ft. Belvoir. "Kate" or "Kay' was born October 26, 1931, in Narrowsburg, New York, the daughter of Malcolm and Bernadette Dexter.
Kate graduated from Marymount Academy in Tarrytown, New York in 1949 and attended Marymount Manhattan College, New York and Pratt Institute before meeting the love of her life Robert Sullivan. She spent four years dating Bob while he was a cadet at West Point and was married at Holy Trinity Catholic Chapel at West Point in 1956. Kay greatest joy was being an Army wife and mother of four children.
She is predeceases by her husband of forty-eight years, Robert P. Sullivan and son Robert P. Sullivan, Jr. Kay is survived by her daughters Kathleen (Robert) Moran, Theresa Sullivan and Denise (William) Medved, two grandchildren, Matthew Moran and Kathryn Moran; three nieces, four nephews and a number of loving relatives and close friends.
The Burial Mass will be held January 17, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Alexandria. A graveside service for family and friends at Ivy Hill Cemetery will follow immediately after the Burial Mass with a reception at Army Navy Country Club following the graveside service.
Kay loved to host and entertain and will be greatly missed by her family and the many friends she touched throughout her life.
