Obituary for Arthur P. Moyer

Arthur P. Moyer, a former Kutztown police chief, died Friday morning at 12: 25 in Reading Hospital, where he was a patient since Sunday. Moyer, 78, of 229 Normal Ave., Kutztown, served as a borough patrolman, from 1935 to 1952 and police chief from 1952 to 1968. He was the husband of Minerva A. (Geiger) Moyer.
Born in Kutztown, he was a son of the late Fred and Kate (Scheire) Moyer. From 1968 to 1978, Moyer was head of the security department at Kutztown University.
An Army veteran of World War.II, he was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Kutztown. In 1958, Moyer was honored by the Kutztown Jaycees as the "Outstanding Citizen of the Year."
A past president of the Kutztown Fire Company, he was a former director of the Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Police, Northeastern District, and a commander of the former Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7013, Kutztown. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Roxanne R, at home, a son, Dennis F., Quakertown; and three grandchildren. Also, a sister, Minnie Brown, a resident at Kutztown Manor and a brother, Roland, Easton; The Trexler-Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown is in charge of arrangements
