Obituary for James H. Zimmerman

James H. Zimmerman, 89, of Topton, died peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2017, in The Lutheran Home at Topton, where he was a patient for several days.  He was the husband of Gladys M. (Ziegler) Zimmerman.  They were married August 14, 1954.  Born in Leesport, he was a son of the late Howard and Sallie (Noll) Zimmerman.  James was a member of Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ, Bowers, where he also served on the Altar Committee.  Mr. Zimmerman worked as a leather cutter over 25 years at the former Garden State Tanning Company, Fleetwood, prior to his retirement.  He had also worked at Caloric Corporation, at its former Topton plant.

In addition to his wife of 63 years, Gladys, James is survived by a sister, Hazel (Zimmerman), wife of Arnold Orchowski, New Hope, Bucks County; and a brother, Jackson, and his wife Helen Zimmerman, Gilbertsville.  Other survivors include a sister-in-law, Arline M. Lahn, Allentown; brother-in-law, Warren P. Ziegler, Wescosville; and several nieces and nephews.

Viewing and funeral services for James will be held privately at the convenience of the family, with his pastor, Reverend Roger M. Ulrich, officiating. Interment will take place in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood.
