Obituary for Paul W Woodruff

Paul W. Woodruff, 70, died at home Friday, September 29, 2017 after a courageous battle with statin associated autoimmune myopathy. Paul was a 1965 graduate of Ellet High School, received a B.S. in Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University, an M.B.A. from Wright State and served in the U.S. Army Reserve.He enjoyed photography as a hobby as well as a profession and was given permission to photograph Martin Luther King, Jr''s speech at O.N.U. in January, 1968. Paul was Director of Pharmacy at Barberton Citizens Hospital from 1981-2007 and most recently was a compounding pharmacist at the Medicine Shoppe in Norton. A self-taught computer programmer, he developed Order Pro, a drug ordering system used by over 200 hospitals across the nation. While in high school he was impressed by a Porsche owned by a neighbor''s uncle. He vowed to own one some day and truly enjoyed his red 1997 Porsche 993 after 40 years of waiting. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Hayes and Mildred Garner Woodruff. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Becky; sons, Jason (Teri) and Adam; step-daughter, Rachel (Leonard) Smith; step-grandsons, Harmon, Henry and Nolan; sister Martha Merletti; nephews Michael (Erica) Henderson and Daniel (Sarah) Henderson and his special four footed friend, Duke. Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Rd on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 4 to 6 p.m. with a memorial service conducted by Jim Noonan at 6 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Mt. Peace Cemetery at a later date.
