Obituary for Gertrude K. Foley

Gertrude K. Foley, “Trudy” 93 of Newark, formerly of Secane, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 11, 2017, surrounded by her family.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Edward J. Foley, Sr.  Trudy is survived by her daughter Mary Collins of Newark, her son Edward J. Foley, Jr., his wife Patricia of Chester, VA and her grandchildren Doug and Kathryn Collins and Eddie and Bob Foley.

Trudy was born in Philadelphia, PA the daughter of the late Margaret (Ford) and James J. Kane. She graduated from West Catholic High School for Girls and worked as a key punch operator at Vertol in Morton, PA. She was a 4-H Club leader and lead the Secane Busy Bakers. She and her late husband Edward started the Delaware County Irish Dancers teaching dance classes at Springfield High School. Later Trudy continued to teach Irish dancing at the New Castle County Irish Society until 2017.  She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 701 S College Ave, Newark, DE 19713. Visitation for family and friends will be begin at 9 AM.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Trudy Foley to the New Castle County Irish Society, 1301 S Rodney Ave, Wilmington, DE 19805 for the installation of a new dance floor.
