Obituary for Elouise E. Slick

Mrs. Elouise Evon (Black) Slick died on Sunday,  November 12, 2017 at the Lutheran Home in Topton where she resided since May.  Mrs. Slick was a longtime resident of 486 West Walnut Street in Kutztown.  Her husband, the late Dr. Max H. Slick, preceded her in death. Mrs. Slick was born on May 26, 1925 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the first child of Dr. John C. and Zula (Dell) Black.  She was raised in Athens, Bradford County, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from the Pennsylvania State University.  She was a music teacher in the Sayre Area School District before moving with her family to the Kutztown area.  Mrs. Slick was an accomplished pianist, and retained a passion for music throughout her life. Mrs. Slick was a member of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Kutztown.

She is survived by a brother Harold Black of Superior, Colorado, and sister Betty Black of Willow Street, Pennsylvania, and three sons: Douglas Slick, and his wife, Melinda, of San Antonio, Texas; Jeffrey Slick, and his wife Leigh, of Kutztown; and Stephen Slick, and his wife, Laurie, of Austin, Texas; as well as two grandchildren, Jordan and Zachary Slick.

A memorial service to celebrate Elouise's life will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Grace E.C. Church, 421 West Main Street, Kutztown, with Pastor Adam Roberts officiating. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private in Fishertown Cemetery, Schellsburg, PA.

The family has requested donations to Berks Visiting Nurses Association, 1170 Berkshire Blvd, Wyomissing, PA 19610, in lieu of flowers.
