Obituary for Donald R. Krieger

Donald Krieger Donald Krieger, 90, of Cuyahoga Falls was surrounded by family when he passed away October 22, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 26, 1927 to the late Harvey and Emma (nee Zuponcic) Krieger, he served in the Air Force and Merchant Marine. In 1945, he met Fran while working as a fireman on the U.S. Alabama on Lake Erie. Fran and Don were married for 49 years and raised their family in Cleveland and Cuyahoga Falls. He and Fran enjoyed boating on Lake Erie and were active members of the Akron Power Squadron. His love of flying continued with piloting private planes over the years. Don was a precision measurement quality engineer working for years at Portage Machine and as owner of Tech Services, Inc. After Fran passed, Don had the fortune of meeting another wonderful lady. Don and Ellen were married for 19 years and were avid travelers to the Outer Banks, Florida and Atlanta spending time with family. Preceded in death by loving wife of 49 years, Fran (nee Borek); daughter, Kris Martin; and brothers, Kenneth "Bill" and Arthur "Ralph." Survived by loving wife of 18 years, Ellen Stroup; children, Don, Jr. (Wendy) of Richmond, Va..; Jan (Charley) von Spiegel; son-in-law, Jim (Cathy) Martin; grandchildren, Don (Tammy), Justin (Jennifer), Irwin (Erin), Heidi (Brian) Robinson, Jackie (Brandon) Sutherland, Andrea (David) Martin, Chase (Mary) Martin; great-grandchildren, T.J., Andy, Alexandra, David, Madeline, Aidan, Arwyn, Aylin; and blessed with a loving extended family, Jill (Kevin) Sheaffer, Lori (Bill) Jurkoshek, Jay (Julie) Stroup and families, with special thanks to Jillian Brown.
