Obituary for Joseph F. Mullin

Joseph F.  Mullin, 81 formerly of Briarcliffe and Brookhaven, died October 21, 2017 at his daughter's home in Morton.

Raised in East Lansdowne, he was a graduate of West Catholic, Class of ’54. He served honorably in the US Air Force and was an active member of the Aston and Seminole, FL American Legion Posts.

He's best remembered locally as Santa, each year letting his hair and beard grow for that authentic look. To his family, as that strong willed and stubborn steamfitter, he was referred to as "Bad Santa"; underneath that gruff exterior was a heart of gold and he valued his family above all else.

Joe enjoyed time with his grandchildren, whether watching their sporting events or just being together at family gatherings.  Family came first and trips to Sea Isle and Florida were a close second. When he retired to Florida it was so he could watch the Phillies every spring in Clearwater.

A licensed plumber early on, he later worked in the shipyards and spent many years at Scott Paper Company and as a steamfitter with local union 420 until his retirement.

Son of the late John and Mary (Corcoran) Mullin, he is the father of  Michele (John) Patterson, Tracey (John) Mortimer and Jim (Ariel) Mullin; additional survivors include his former wife, Nan Mullin, grandchildren, Megan (David) Griggs, John Robert, Michael, Kevin and Jenna Patterson, John Francis and Matt Mortimer and Jimmy Mullin; many loving nieces and nephews.
