Obituary for Daniel Kormushoff

Daniel Kormushoff Daniel Nicholas Kormushoff, 59, passed away September 15, 2017. Dan was born in Akron and a lifelong resident of the area. Dan owned and operated Kormushoff Painting for a number of years. Most recently, he worked for American Roadway Logistics. He was a graduate of Firestone High School where he excelled in baseball which led to an outstanding career at the University of Akron - serving as team captain in 1980 and 1981. Dan set many records while playing shortstop - which he still holds till this day. After the University, Dan continued to play ball for the Greater Akron AA League for Akron Insulating. Great times with Rudy Pie and many others. Baseball was his passion, and it was very evident to all that played ball with him. Dan played in the AA League for a number of years and was later inducted into the Summit County Hall of Fame in 1999. Dan will always be remembered for his goofy personality, strong work ethic, appreciation for the great outdoors and fishing, love of the game and love for his children. Preceded in death by his parents, Michael (Meek), mother, Ann and sister, Kathy, Dan is survived by his brothers, Michael (Patrice), Dave (Chris) and Steve; children, Danielle (Jake Edsell) Alise (Tom Smith) and Olivia; grandchildren, Emmett and Vivienne; along with nieces, nephews, and many friends. The family will receive friends and family Friday, September 22 from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Eastern Orthodox Church, 555 S Cleveland Massillon Rd., Fairlawn, OH 44333, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Christian burial at Mount Peace Cemetery immediately following.
